THE BIG EGG HUNT EVENT 2012
- The Big Egg Hunt
Jason Bruges Studio were commissioned by Fabergé to create an interactive egg, for the Big Egg Hunt event taking place all around London. “Chicken” is an illuminated living and playful egg that responds to the movement and proximity of the viewer as if shying away from being found in the egg hunt. It has its own personality, Chicken is timid and becomes very discreet thanks to its active camouflage. The lights embedded in the surface will brighten and dim in a real-time response to the activity all around. “Chicken” also adapts itself to the surrounding lighting conditions.
This interactive art piece works entirely in an analogue way. Embedded inside the egg are a hundred circuits connecting photo diodes (a kind of light sensor) to LED’s, each working individually, by switching on and off to depict the changing light conditions that surround it.
Sponsored by Fabergé, The Big Egg Hunt is a 100% charitable event that will raise funds for vital conservation issues and help secure a future for some of the UK’s most vulnerable and neglected children. The event will give a chance to make a significant contribution to both Elephant Family and Action for Children. By creating, celebrating and auctioning off their magnificent and diverse collection of hand crafted eggs the charity hope to raise the funds necessary to make that change, and do so with style, innovation and charm.
