55 BAKER STREET

Client
London & Regional
Location
London
Year
2008

The brief for this project was that it re-engage the former HQ of Marks & Spencer with Baker Street and serve as a leading example on how public art can be used to upgrade the greater visual environment and positively influence the perception of an area. It was equally important that the work be an animated piece rather than static, and that it provide a visually stimulating prominence to encourage the public to enter the atrium spaces.

Jason Bruges Studio collaborated with architect’s make, working with the scale of the existing building and their innovative façade design to create fully integrated scheme. Venetian masks were the inspiration behind the façade design and Jason Bruges Studio’s concept side lights the façade sections enabling it to change its characteristics, like wearing a mask frees a person to assume a new identity.
